Blue Classic

During my recent trip to Yosemite, I spent a couple of early mornings at the classic tunnel view hoping to catch a good sunrise. Since I had absolutely no internet signal (yay!), I had to rely on my assistant (wife) to forecast the weather (she went to weather.com). She relayed to me that it was supposed to be cool (freezing ass) and party cloudy (not a cloud in the sky). As it would turn out, both mornings were completely cloudless (don’t rely on weather forecasts from your wife). Undiscouraged, I was glad that I was there early enough to catch blue hour.

I know it’s the classic shot that everyone gets when they go to Yosemite, but it’s so beautiful that I couldn’t resist. I love how the blue light here plays on the mountains and turns the mist in the trees blue. For fun, I’ve included a shot of the same exact view that I took the previous evening when I got into the park.

Wow another jaw dropping view! How long did it take you to hike to this spot or is there somewhere to park near by? this view is awesome and you’ve captured it really well! I love the mist on the ground below and the second shot is a comical inclusion of what the weather can do to ruin a view as well as making one :)

Awesome shot Jason. Love the fog through the trees. It doesn’t matter whether it has been photographed before (that is a popular spot) as long as it is beautiful (as this is).

Regardless of the lack of clouds, that was some view! I love the fog in the trees and the kiss of snow. When I was there a couple of weeks ago, we had some cloud and a nicely colourful sunrise but the valley itself wasn’t anything like as interesting as we see in your image. I’ve set the CommentLuv to point to one of my images from exactly the same place.

That’s very funny Jason. Beautiful scene and I agree with Jim I haven’t seen a blue hour like this and I love the little wisps of fog. Great shot Jason.

While I’ve seen this view from other photographers, I’ll never tire of it. It’s stunning, and you’ve captured it wonderfully. As always, great shot! :)
