Bambi at Sunrise
Not long after sunrise I headed to the one of the meadow areas along the Merced River in hopes of capturing some nice reflections in the golden light. I came upon an interesting section of the river with some beautiful reflections when I heard snapping branches coming from behind me. After a shot or two, I decided to abandon the river and check out the noises behind me. I came upon a mother deer and her young foraging under a cluster of trees. They did not seem threatened by my presence at all and I was able to set up and take several nice shots. I really liked the light in this shot.
Bonnie
So this past weekend I was a bit desperate to get out and do some shooting. With the weather full of nothing but blue skies throughout the state, we decided to make the drive up to Williams to take a look at Bearizona. We had a good time checking out the park and managed to catch their afternoon raptor show where I had the opportunity to play with the continuous focus mode on my camera. This is a Harris Hawk named Bonnie

A Sly Smile
As we were preparing for our trip to Australia, Kristi had only one thing on her mind – Koalas. She wanted to pat them, she wanted to hold them, I think she even wanted to take one home with us. We were therefore pleased to have the opportunity to pat a Koala at one of the wildlife parks on Phillip Island. She never got to hold one, but all and all I think she was quite content. We met this little guy at a Koala Conservation Center. He was just waking up as we passed and when he noticed that his alertness was getting lots of attention he became quite active and even posed for a several pictures. As I look at this shot I almost expect him to wink at me. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for commenting!

Ram It!
During my visit to the Valley of Fire State Park, I turned the corner of a winding road only to find a ram calmly walking down the middle of the road. I quickly switched to my 28-300, got as close as I dared in the car and pulled over to take a few shots. Unfortunately, Mr. Ram was not in the mood to turn around. He seemed quite unafraid of the car however and with the roads completely empty at 6am, I decided to pass him at which point I was able to get a few shots. Not long after he decided to stop and have a bit of a snack and I was able to approach closer.
