And Finally
- This week’s sunset photo of the week award goes to Gary Arndt for this wonderful capture of a family on the beach at sunset in Acapulco, Mexico
Bartlett Lake Sunrise
I seem to be on a bit of a sunrise kick the last few days. I took this shot at sunrise not long ago at Bartlett Lake. The water was very pleasant for 5:30am and I set up for this shot not quite waste deep in the lake. I used the Topaz Adjust’s ‘Spicify” filter for this one – I’ve been liking it a lot lately. Thank you very much for all your great support and comments this week, I greatly appreciate it!

Peaceful Morning
I absolutely love getting out and doing sunrise photography. The only problem is, I have a really hard time getting out of bed sometimes. Once I’m up in the truck however, everything is completely different. It’s always so quiet at that hour and there’s just a magical feeling I get looking through the viewfinder as the new day rolls in.
I took this shot just before the sun came over the mountains at Bartlett Lake just north of Carefree. It had rained the night before and I was hoping for some really nice clouds for sunrise but as always, mother nature does not take requests
. Bartlett Lake is a really nice place to shoot in the morning and I have plans to go back this winter for several more sunrises.

Saguaro Sunrise
Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I was really excited to launch two new weekly features this weekend: Friday Photo Spots where I will feature some links to other blogger’s photos, and Sock Monkey Sundays which details the adventures of my newest friend, Captain Jack Sock.
It was a bit wacky here with the weather. It went from cold, cloudy and rainy to bright, blue and sunny. I got up early yesterday and headed out to Bartlett Lake in hopes of catching an awesome sunrise after the rain we had on Saturday. I’ve been out there once before to take some photos when I first started shooting and I made the mistake of leaving the ISO setting at 1600 which was a major whoops. This time I made sure to double check my settings and despite the disappointing sunrise I still came back with some good photos. Be sure to tell me what you think!
