Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather here is starting to get really nice and I am looking forward to making it to Sedona to shoot some fall colors real soon.

For today, I have a fun shot from the town of Jerome. We found this long abandoned truck down in a ditch and I had to make my way down the slope to take a few shots. I managed to open the door a little bit further to get somewhat 3d feel to this image. It took me a bit to get the processing right on this one but I really like the outcome. The textures on the door beg to be touched.

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I spent a good deal of my time getting caught up on some photo processing as I was really starting to get backed up. I have a lot of great images ready to go now. I’m also working on getting my portfolio setup which will be posted on the website soon!

Today’s image is from the “ghost town” of Jerome. This is a photo of the Audrey Mine Shaft which was in use from 1918 – 1938. The shaft is over 1900 feet deep! To give you a little perspective on this, the Empire State Building is only 1250 feet high! It was a crazy feeling to be standing on the grate that covered up a tunnel that deep in the earth. After quite awhile laying on my stomach trying to focus between the bars I ended up with this shot. I used Topaz Detail to bring out the textures in the wall. Let me know what you think!

Welcome to Friday Photo Spots. This post is part of a weekly series, Friday Photo Spots, which showcases some of the best photos of the week from around the photo blog community. I think I have the categorization down to something a little more permanent, but be sure to leave any feedback or suggestions you might have in the comments. Also, make sure to subscribe via RSS or email so you don’t miss any future posts!

This weekend is mine and Kristi’s second wedding anniversary. We are leaving tomorrow morning to spend the weekend in Monument Valley and other various areas in Southern Utah. One of the many great things about being married to someone who shares your passion is that they don’t mind taking photography trips for their anniversary :) . I have all of the posts for the weekend scheduled, including Sock Monkey Sundays, so be sure to check those out. I hope you have a great holiday weekend and I’ll be back at the comments Tuesday morning :) .

The Tin Can

I like to think of today’s image as the “Tin Can”. I took this photo not long ago on our trip to Jerome. Of course, what we dont realize is that this is probably their garage and there is a Ferrari inside or something. Have a great weekend everyone!

There is nothing I love taking pictures of more than sunsets. We spent a cloudy day in Jerome taking some photos. On the way home the clouds starting to clear perfectly and I pulled off of I-17 to take some shots. There wasn’t anything in the way of a focal point around so I decided to let the sunset speak for itself. This is one of the things I love the most about Arizona. Enjoy!

Personally, I always like to keep things a little unpredictable which is why I try to make the daily post as random as I can. After all, variety is the spice of life, right? I know some people like to post in sets, or groups, while others use a particular theme for a set amount of time. I am curious what your opinion is – do you prefer to have several pictures from the same area, or themes? Tell me in the comments what your preference is!

This is a shot from our recent trip to Jerome. I found a rusted out truck cab lying in a ditch so I climbed down to take this picture. This a shot of the interior, I really liked that I can see some mining equipment in the distance through the window.
