Friday Photo Spots & The Bowtie



Welcome to Friday Photo Spots. This post is part of a weekly series, Friday Photo Spots, which showcases some of the best photos of the week from around the photo blog community. Buildings & Architecture

  • Pete Talke posted an image of Al Capone’s cell in Eastern State Penitentiary, PA. It’s not what you’d expect – have a look.
  • John Manuel is showcasing some great images from Fort Stevens in Oregon. See if you can spot Casper!
  • Mike Murphey’s photo title says it all – “Screw It!” You’ll like this one.

 

  • Mark Garbowski has some great images from the Walt Disney Concert Hall this week. I love the contrast of shapes in this one!
  • Martin Soler posted this great shot from Paris. This is a very nice b&w.
  • Matty Wolin also posted an image from Paris. This is a great shot of the the Père Lachaise Cemetery – be sure to check it out!

Animals

  • Eric Leslie has some great landscape photos this week from his trip to Brandy Creek Falls. This is my favorite of his.
  • Tim Nealon shared this image from Ohiopyle State Park. This is a truly beautiful scene and makes me want to visit!
  • Jim Denham posted this image entitled “Grey Flood”. This is a stunning b&w image with an awesome composition!

 

  • Toad (no last name given, no last name needed) posted these great images of “Percy”. Check it out!
  • Jerry Denham posted this image of his adorable new puppy “Snoop”. C’mon… You know you want to look :).
  • Judith Polakoff shows off some awesome photo skills with this picture of a wildcat – great stuff!

Miscellaneous

  • Justin Kern posted these ultra-high-resolution images in his post entitled “The Room a Hundred Years Wide”. This is a great read too!
  • Keith Moyer took the time to share a photo of his bedroom ceiling ;). Definitely check this out!
  • Jay Taylor shows us an image that goes on forever at the Suzallo Library. Have a look!

 

  • Chris Nitz has some awesome macro images this week. This is my favorite – have a look! Watch out for Spiders while you’re there though…
  • Catherine Ross is showing off the photo of The Whitney this week. Love this perspective – have a look!
  • Scott Wyden is helping us brush up on our history with a great post titled “Where the Civil War Began”.

And Finally…

  • Nick Risinger wins the award for sheer awesomeness with his Photopic Sky Survey Project! This project took 37,440 exposures to create. If you haven’t heard or seen this yet, you’ve got to have a look – it’s simply amazing!

The Bowtie

One more photo from my time in Downtown Phoenix not long ago. I’m pretty happy with how this one came out even though a few people walked in front of the camera while I was taking the photo. The shutter was open for so long that the camera didn’t even register them in the image. I hope you enjoy!
