Saguaro Sunrise

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I was really excited to launch two new weekly features this weekend: Friday Photo Spots where I will feature some links to other blogger’s photos, and Sock Monkey Sundays which details the adventures of my newest friend, Captain Jack Sock.

It was a bit wacky here with the weather. It went from cold, cloudy and rainy to bright, blue and sunny. I got up early yesterday and headed out to Bartlett Lake in hopes of catching an awesome sunrise after the rain we had on Saturday. I’ve been out there once before to take some photos when I first started shooting and I made the mistake of leaving the ISO setting at 1600 which was a major whoops. This time I made sure to double check my settings and despite the disappointing sunrise I still came back with some good photos. Be sure to tell me what you think!

Love the detail in the road! Great shot and I appreciate the mention on Friday!

Well done Jason. Love the placement of the sun behind the cactus.

Nice job Jason! We were out yesterday too, in AJ of course and the Superstition Mountain area…had a few clouds appear, but nothing completely awesome :)

The sun and shadows are awesome in this shot…agree with Chris. My only little, tiny comment would be it feels like it needs a tad more contrast or darkness? Just barely…otherwise, love the whole composition and everything!

Nice composition. Like how the road just wraps around the frame. Agree with Mike that a slight contrast boost would be beneficial.

Great comp, Jason. Love it, but I would agree with Mike on this too. A little more contrast would shape it up a tad, but it still works the way it is too! Well played!

Nice composition. Great spot. You’ve got everything in one place.

Mountain, lake, sky, cloud, road and cactus.

I wonder how long did you wait for the cars gone by.

This photo has lots details. I would add contrast and sharpen a little. How many shots did you take to make it HDR? 3 or 5?

Love the sun right behind the cactus and the detail of the road originating from the corner. I also agree with the previous comments… Maybe a slight curves adjustment… Nice work!

I love the way that the light falls onto the roadway.

Thank you to everyone for your comments and feedback. They’re all very appreciated!

@A.Barlow – I considered naming this photo Tequila Sunrise at first :) .
